While the majority of Pakistanis are worried about the country’s alarming inflation, default rumours, and economic recession, there are still record-breaking coffee buyers.

After nearly a year of anticipation, the coveted coffee chain from Canada, Tim Hortons, finally opened its door to coffee enthusiasts of Lahore. But to everyone’s surprise, it made a grand opening that holds a world record now.

For the unversed, the iconic coffee shop opened its first and flagship outlet in Phase 6, DHA Lahore, on Saturday. Its delicious coffees, reasonable prices, and airy atmosphere make it a welcome addition to Pakistan’s coffee scene. Tim Hortons Record sales in Pakistan get mixed reactions from Netizens.

Opening sales in the South Asian country were the highest in Tim Hortons’ history (the chain first opened in 1964) and broke a world record. The Pakistani franchise not only outpaced everyone in the brand’s history but also in the number of locations it operated.

The availability of Tim Hortons’ signature French Vanilla and Iced Capps, as well as their baked goods, including their delicious donuts called “Timbits,” sandwiches, and wraps, in Pakistan, increased the likelihood of a record-breaking sale. This Tim Hortons in Lahore breaks global records.

The internet was shattered not by the popularity of international franchises but by the interminable wait for a cup of coffee at a popular spot. Others are churning out sarcastic responses, while some are genuinely concerned about the priorities of Pakistanis. All of society, from the entertainment industry to the general public, is in a state of panic.

Well-known actor Farhan Saeed from the show Mere Humsafar also tweeted his concern: “You can find one Pakistani in the Tim Hortons line, and another waiting in line for aata and ghee at a utility store. That there is a gap in the middle scares me.”

This long queue indeed raised eyebrows among many.

“Actual two nations theory! Economic crises? For whom? 1st 2 pictures are of Candian cafe Tim Hortons opening in DHA Lahore. A long queue of ruling oligarchy kins for coffee,” a user tweeted.

As usual, the memes are not lagging.

The Diyar-e-Dil star Mariyam Nafees Amaan also tweeted, “Socho Starbucks aagya tou kya hoga! [Imagine what would happen if Starbucks is launched (in Pakistan)]”

“A country where people spend over 1000 billion rupees every year on weddings, some people are worried about the record-breaking sales of Tim Hortons,” tweeted another.

On February 18 and 25, respectively, Tim Hortons will open its second and third locations in Gulberg, Lahore.

More than 5,100 Tim Hortons can be found in 13 different countries right now. This includes the United States, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, China, Thailand, and the Philippines.
