The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) recently announced its annual list of the world’s most liveable cities for 2023, and once again, Vienna is at the top.
The EIU, which is related to The Economist, ranked 173 towns around the world based on important factors like health care, education, security, infrastructure, and environment.
Vienna stayed at the top of the EIU’s Global Liveability Index, which was based on infrastructure, culture, leisure, education, health care, and other factors.
Even though Melbourne and Sydney, both in Australia, had fallen down the list in recent years, with Sydney pulling out of the top 10 and Melbourne tied with Osaka, Japan, for 10th place in 2022, they have both jumped back up to third and fourth place, respectively.

Even though Europe was well represented at the top of the list, most of the places that fell the most in the rankings this year were in Europe.
Both London, the capital of the UK, and Stockholm, the city of Sweden, fell in the ranks. London fell 12 places to 46th place, and Stockholm fell 22 places to 43rd place. Here we present for you the world’s most liveable cities for 2023.
