The fifth wave of Corona Virus is at us and this time, it is spreading like wildfire. All over Pakistan, the positivity rate is at an all-time high, and people are confused about what to do. This pandemic has been at us for the last two years, and while we have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure we and our loved ones are safe, the threat is still looming over our heads. So, in face of such adversities, what can we do?
- Get vaccinated
At this point, this shouldn’t even be said to people because they should themselves know to get vaccinated. If anyone contracts the virus when vaccinated – then the effect of the virus is not as extreme as it would be on non-vaccinated people. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of getting vaccinated. - Maintain SOP’s
There are three simple steps that everyone must follow. Wear a mask at all times, keep a sanitizer on you, and maintain a safe distance from everyone. This must all be followed in our homes – especially when someone has the flu or is a little sick. Obviously, in this winter season, people can also have mild flu or some allergies – so the best option is to practice precautions. - Don’t Go Out
Now that does not mean that you are confined to the walls of your home. It’s a simple step to avoid unnecessary trips. If it’s nothing urgent or you just want to have some fun with your friends, well that’s how things get lose. Especially for people who have fever, flu, cough, headaches, body aches, avoid such unnecessary trips to avoid contracting the virus or transmitting it.
- Pray
In times when nothing seems to work – we must all pray for miracles. The virus is affecting so many people all over the world, and in times like these, we must all pray for the health and safety of all of us. Hum sab kou is waqt dua’on ki zarurat hai.
Everyone – people take care of yourself and those you love. The world it seems is going into lockdown once again, and we must do everything that we can to ensure that anyone does not contract the virus through us. It may not affect us as much, as it may the other person. We just need to practice as many precautions as we can.
New Zealand, Australia, Africas, and many other countries have started restricting their borders and are imposing smart lockdowns to contain the spread of this omicron variant. Although WHO says that ‘the emergency part of the pandemic will end in 2022’ and ‘the omicron variant offers hope that the virus could stabilize the pandemic worldwide’.
Everyone needs to be cautious and foresighted in such scenarios, just as we thought things are going back to normal it hit us again. But what we can do in such times is to help each other out, especially by doing our part in containing the virus.
