Another international feat for Pakistani women! Shiza Shahid, a Pakistani-American social entrepreneur, has collaborated with American singer-cum-actor Selena Gomez for her cooking venture called Our Place. Our Place is a cookware business based in Los Angeles that designs cookware and produces products sustainably. In 2020, it generated $20 million while being handled by 12 people.
Shiza Shahid co-founded ‘The Malala Fund” and then became the CEO of the non-profit organisation that promoted education for girls. She launched ‘Our Place’ a little over two years ago to inspire more people to reconnect with their heritage, food systems, and one another by cooking and sharing food. For her, partnering up with Selena Gomez is a dream come true.
This collaboration is part of a greater cause. 10% of profits from the collection will be donated to expand mental health services with Gomez’s makeup line ‘Rare Beauty’. Gomez took it to her Instagram to announce the news.
She wrote, “Finally I can share my collection with Our Place!” The collection is a “celebration of all ways we cook- as beginners or experts, perfectly or imperfectly, messily and joyously. Our Place is immigrant and women-owned, rooted in building a bigger table.”
Pakistani entrepreneur Shiza Shahid is featured on the Female Founders 100 list for her cookware business. This proves that Pakistani women are on a mission to raise the bar.
