Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Team Won T20 Asia Cup for the Second Time

 

 

 

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Wheelchair cricket team became the T20 Asia Cup Champions. Pakistan Wheelchair cricket team defeated Sri Lanka in the final by 102 runs to lift the trophy for the second time.

The final of the T20 Wheelchair Asia Cup 2023 was played in Kathmandu, Nepal. The defending champions Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening batters of Pakistan Muhammad Adnan and Umair Gul put on a partnership of 140 runs for the first wicket. The partnership of 140 runs by the opening pair was broken when Muhammad Adnan got out after scoring 66 runs. Muhammad Latif came in at number 3 for Pakistan, but he got out only after scoring 4 runs, he lost his wicket when the score was 150 runs for Pakistan. Pakistan eventually reached a score of 215 runs in their 20 runs. Opener Umair Gul scored an impressive 95 runs only after facing 53 deliveries.

The target of 216 runs proved to be very difficult for Sri Lankan batters to chase. They lost wickets on a regular basis throughout their innings. Pakistani bowlers did an incredible job. Pakistan bowled out Sri Lanka for a total of 113 in 17.2 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Sarth was the top scorer as he scored 25 runs, while Karunaratne scored 20 runs for his side. Asif Nadeem took three wickets for Pakistan.

Pakistani opening batter Umair Gul was named Man of the Final match for his magnificent 95 runs of 53 deliveries.

This was Pakistan’s second triumph in this competition. Pakistan won the tournament two times in a row.
