Earlier, Qatar beat Pakistan in an exciting quarterfinal match.
The match was between the 17th-ranked Qatar team and the 51st-ranked Pakistan team.
Pakistan played well from the first set on, which was the first part of the game.
At one point, Pakistan was up by five points, but Qatar made an amazing comeback, coming back from being down 20-15 and 24-22 to steal the first set from Pakistan. But Qatar couldn’t keep going in the same direction.
In the third set, Pakistan was better than Qatar from the very beginning. In the fourth set, Pakistan lost because Qatar didn’t give them any room to come back and won the game. The final scores were 24-26, 19-25, 25-23, and 18-25. This means that Qatar beat Pakistan.
Remember that the Men in Green beat South Korea 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, and 25-21) to get to the quarterfinals.
With their win over South Korea, Pakistan also made sure they were in the top six teams.
This was the first time since the Asian Games in 1994 that the team had finished in the top six.
Earlier, Pakistan won group B by beating Chinese Taipei and Mongolia, two teams that were not very good.
Chinese Taipei lost to the Green Shirts in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, and 25-19.
The scores they won by against Mongolia were 25-17, 25-19, and 25-20.
In the history of volleyball at the Asian Games, Pakistan’s best score was third place at the Jakarta Asian Games in 1962. In 2018, when the last Asian Games were held in Indonesia, Pakistan came in eighth place.
