Mahira Khan, the current reigning queen of Lollywood, is on route to take on yet another great role.
According to reports, the Raees actress, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan, is setting out on a quest to play Indian actress Meena Kumari in the Pakistani version of B-cult Town’s classic movie, Pakeezah.
Hamid Hussain’s production company will handle the Pakistani version of 1972 smash movie. According to reports in the local media, the famous diva from Humsafar is probably going to play the lead role of Meena Kumari, an Indian actress and poet better known as The Tragedy Queen.
Mahira Khan is one of numerous well-known actors with whom the production team is in contact for the remake.
For those who are unaware, Pakeezah, directed by Kamal Amrohi, is regarded as the most expensive film produced in India during the 1970s, with a budget of one crore five million Indian rupees at the time. More intriguingly, Kumari’s passing a month after the popular movie increased its notoriety.
Mahira Khan is currently enjoying the success of The Legend of Maula Jatt, Pakistan’s highest-grossing movie. She will be seen in Neelofar, opposite Fawad Khan.
