“Hug cows” Among the most bizarre decisions made by the Modi-led Indian government, the most recent one takes the cake as it leaves Twitterati in fits of laughter.
After the Animal Welfare Board in India, a statutory advisory body on animal welfare regulations, made an odd “request” for cow lovers in the nation to do anything that tickled people, the microblogging site was deluged with the funniest memes.
The board has requested that everyone observe February 14, often known as Valentine’s Day, as “Cow Hug Day.”
The advisory council made the observation at the government’s request that as western culture has developed, it has supplanted indigenous Vedic traditions in the nation, pushing them dangerously close to extinction.
Due to the advancement of western civilization throughout time, the Vedic practises are nearly gone. Our physical culture and traditions have all but been lost because of western civilization’s glitz, according to a board notice.
The nation’s culture and rural economy are supported by the cow, which also symbolises the nation’s biodiversity and riches in cattle and serves as a symbol of the country’s culture and rural economy.
“In view of the immense benefits of the cow, hugging [the] cow will bring emotional richness hence will increase our individual and collective happiness. Therefore, all the cow lovers may also celebrate February 14 as Cow Hug Day, keeping in mind the importance of the mother cow and making life happy and full of positive energy. This [was] issued with the approval of competent authority and on the direction of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying,” the notification further read.
Following the board’s appeal, Indian Twitterati found the opportunity to share the funniest memes out there.
