The much-anticipated PSL8 opening ceremony of the latest season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) finally took place in Multan on Monday. Twitter divided over this opening ceremony

Fans flocked to the stadium to see the start of the tournament, which Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said would be “bigger and better” than the last series.

The less than an hour-long ceremony got mixed reviews on Twitter. Some fans were blown away by how big it was, while others didn’t seem too interested.

One person wrote on the microblogging site, “One of the best  opening ceremonies in history.”

Others said that the stadium was full of excited fans of cricket who were there to watch the game. “Amazing scenes at Multan Cricket Stadium as the  opening ceremony begins,” said one user. The stands are almost full, and the place is busy right now.”

Another Twitter user said about the augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) setup for the ceremony, “Ceremony is over. This was one of the best  opening ceremony. The technology behind the fireworks, AR, and VR is really cool. [PCB]: Thank you. Pakistan Zindabad.”PSL8 opening ceremony really amused the Twitteratis.

Those not impressed:
But not all fans seemed to be impressed by how big and fancy the event was. Many people used the platform to say what they thought through funny jokes and memes.

Still, some people were more serious about the match and wondered if it was really that important.

One person tweeted, “Aren’t we the same country where half of the people are hurt by inflation and the other half by floods, which also wants loans from the IMF but is close to defaulting?” Where there is no justice and everyone keeps quiet.”
