Afghanistan beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Pakistani fans and past cricket players were upset with their team.
Afghanistan needed to score 283 runs to win, and Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77 not out), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65), and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (48 not out) all played great games that helped them reach their goal with six balls to spare.
Afghanistan shocked the defending champions England earlier in the event. Pakistan and Afghanistan have now each won two of their five group games and lost three.
Fans disagree on whether the team led by Babar Azam should be in the top four or not. Some say that the Men in Green can’t come back after this loss.
It was also Afghanistan’s first World Cup win over Pakistan. The score is now 7-1
Stubbornness, when it leads to an unwillingness to adapt or learn from mistakes, a key factor in failure. #PAKvsAFG #WorldCup2023

Congratulations Afghanistan 🇦🇫 on a Historical Win👏🏼 Afg was better than Pakistan 🇵🇰 in all aspects of the Game today. Our bowling was not okay and fielding was absolutely pathetic. No hunger to win.
Afghanistan deserved it honestly 👏🏼#AFGvPAK #WorldCup2023 pic.twitter.com/Ih7mZzOHAs

23rd October 2022 vs India
23rd October 2023 vs AfghanistanDates Pakistan would never want to remember. This is certainly the shutting of any sneaking window they thought might open for a semis spot #PAKvsAFG #PakistanCricketTeam #Afghanistan #ICCCricketWorldCup

This has to be the most embarrassing defeat ever. Even more than the one against Bangladesh in 1999 World Cup. Should put an end to Babar’s stint as a captain.
