Australia Beat Pakistan by 79 Runs in the Second Test to Win the Test Series

Cummins brilliant bowling performance in the second test match brings Australia a series win

Australia beat Pakistan in the second test match by 79 runs to win the test series 2-0 with one test match to go. Two wins in a row for Australia in the three-match test brought Australia the series win.

Pakistan got a target of 317 runs in the fourth innings in MCG by Australia to win the test match. Pakistan managed to score 264 runs. The test match was a very exciting one. At one point it seemed like Pakistani batsmen would chase the target. Australian bowlers came back brilliantly to snatch the win from Pakistan’s hands.

When Pakistan was 219 for 5 with Rizwan and Salman Agha set at the wicket, it was very easy to predict that Pakistan would make a comeback in the series to level the ongoing test series. M. Rizwan lost his wicket to Pat Cummins after scoring 35 runs. Pakistan lost their last 5 wickets for only 19 runs.

Australian bowlers and team kept the belief and demolished Pakistani lower order cheaply.

Fighting knock from Salman Agha of 50 runs didn’t prove enough to fetch Pakistan a much-awaited test victory. Captain Shan Masood was the top scorer for Pakistan in the second innings with 60 runs. Babar Azam scored 41 runs.

Australian captain Pat Cummins bowled incredibly well to bring his team an interesting victory as he took 5 Pakistani wickets. While Mitchell Starc had 4 wickets under his belt.

Like the first test match, it took four days again for Australia to win the test match. Pakistan’s team is under immense pressure to prove a point and take something away from the test series. The third and final test match will be played from 3rd -7th of January 2024.

Pakistan will be looking to grab a consolation win.
