The well-known documentary Pakistani filmmaker, Haya Fatima Iqbal, has reached yet another significant milestone in her storied career.
“As Far As They Can Run,” the most recent film by the Academy and two-time Emmy Award-winning director, has been nominated for the prestigious 44th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Short Documentary. Three young adults from rural Pakistan with intellectual disabilities set out on their inspirational adventure to become Special Olympics athletes, and the film brilliantly portrays that experience.
Haya shared the exciting news with her followers on Instagram as she expressed her ecstasy. She stated, “Our film got nominated for an Emmy!” in a jubilant Story post. The film “As Far As They Can Run” explores the lives of youngsters in and around Mirpur Khas, bringing attention on their difficulties and the extraordinary changes they go through as they receive training to become athletes, she continued.
The videographer has been delighted and honoured to see the sincere concern and commitment of the coaches who develop and assist these young athletes.
