In the midst of a swarm of largely Ali Azmat supporters during a rock event in August 2016, a young man starts supporting Umai Jaswal. When he requests to hear Sammi Meri Waar, he is surrounded and booed. For Jaswal’s devoted but expanding following, Azmat’s warriors were too brutal. But he stands his position in the expectation that the powerful army of his rival will be subdued by the Halaak singer. Although that never happens but in the end, Azmat and Jaswal embrace, unlike their admirers.
Since then, Jaswal has accomplished a great deal. He previously had a successful run in another branded show. He recently married. He has released a new album, Dancing Karein Sari Raat. And his fan base continues to increase.
On the surface, he has also modified, or rather, gotten rid of, his distinctive beard. Nevertheless, beneath his newfound youthful charm, he has come to terms with a huge realisation.
‘Dance Kerain Saari Raat’ will set a new bar for Pakistani genre-bending music. Jaswal has delved into his creative impulses with this album, exploring new current musical ground without sacrificing his beautiful voice.
The album has some energetic music, such as dance numbers, that are likely to be the year’s party anthems. The album will be available on all major platforms, including Spotify and YouTube.
The artist is immersed in his emotional depths and each song is a narrative of his personal journey. The album being a coming-of-age of sorts, the song titles itself are definitely conversation starters, such as Mamacita, Aunty Let Me Go and Disco Diljala. There’s something in it for everyone, from deep soulful songs to fun lyrical songs that you can’t get out of your head.
