‘Boohey Barian’ – India Copies Another Pakistani Song

We have a big heart if India had asked before copying our content, we would have let them do it. But it’s very unethical to plagiarize someone else’s content without giving them the credit they deserve.

Indian singer copies Boohey Barian

It would be unfair to say that the news of India doing what it has always done came as a shock. Not at all, it is expected of the country but we don’t understand the obsession with copying Pakistan’s content without giving due credit or asking for permission. We have a big heart if India had asked before copying our content, we would have let them do it. But it’s very unethical to plagiarize someone else’s content without giving them the credit they deserve. And this is not the first time, repeatedly Indian artists have been found copying Pakistani content. Recently, an Indian singer released a song that is a rendition of a Pakistani song, and India copied yet another song.

Theft of Hadiqa Kiani’s Song ‘Boohey Barian’

Previously, Jubin Nautiyal copied the Pakistani song, Bol Kaffara. The netizens though criticized and bashed the Indian singer for plagiarizing someone else’s work. Par India kahan manta hai… phir sei agaye apni qismat kisi aur kay content sei chamkanay. But for how long the Pakistani artists are going to take a lean back and do nothing. This is high time that the people start speaking up about it. Just like what Hadiqa Kiani did.

On April 28th, an Indian singer Kanika Kapoor released her version of ‘Boohey Barian’ without giving credit to the owner of the song i.e., Hadiqa Kiani. This was not gone unnoticed and the Pakistani singer Hadiqa Kiani took it to social media slamming the Indian singer. Hadiqa said “Another day and another shameless rendition of the song my mother wrote. No one asked for my permission, no one has given me royalties, they just take the song that my mother wrote and I recorded, and use it as an easy money-making scheme.”

Hadiqa acknowledged that many Bollywood movies have used her songs but they have given the due credit. But this is intolerable. She said, “I’m alive and well, if you want [to] sing my songs, ask me first…” Hadiqa shared her opinion on someone else using her songs. She said it feels good when someone uses your song as their cover but there is a proper way to do things.

Hadiqa also thanked her fans and supporters for standing with her. She said “Grateful to my fans and supporters. These people will buy million fake views and fake comments but real people know the truth.”

Indian singer needs to be mindful of the way they do things. Not always people are going to turn a blind eye to their repeated theft of someone else’s work.
