Pakistan Trail by 124 Runs at stumps on Day 2 of Boxing Day Test Match

Cummins brilliance with the ball puts Pakistan on backfoot

In the second test match of the three-match test series between Pakistan and Australia, Pakistan trail by 124 runs at stumps on day 2. Earlier Australia was all out after scoring 318 runs in 96.5 overs. Pakistan is trailing the test series by 1-0 after Green Shirts lost to the hosts in Perth.

In Melbourne Cricket Ground when Pakistan came to bat at day 2 after bowling out Australia, Pakistani openers couldn’t give a start they would have wanted. Imam ul Haq was the first to make his way back to the dressing room after scoring 10 runs only from 44 balls. For the second wicket slipper Shan Masood and opener Abdullah Shafiq built a good partnership of 90 runs before Shafiq got out to Pat Cummins, who scored 62 runs.

Former Pakistani skipper Babar Azam was bowled out soon after by Pat Cummins, he managed to score only one run. All of a sudden Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble when Shan Masood lost his wicket after adding 54 runs to his tally. After that, no Pakistani batsman stood strong on the wicket to close the gap between Pakistan’s first innings score and Australia’s score of 318 runs of the first innings.

At stumps on day 2 Pakistan were 194 for the loss of 6 wickets. Still trailing by 124 runs. Mohammad Rizwan is not out at 29 runs while Aamer Jamal is with him not out on 2 runs.

For Australia captain Pat Cummins has taken 3 wickets and Nathan Lyon took 2 Pakistani wickets.
