Pakistan and Kazakhstan have had a great brotherly relationship. They have cooperated and collaborated in different sectors. They have decided to enhance energy partnerships which is great news.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin called Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik to discuss the energy partnership. It was agreed that Pakistan can benefit from the energy reserves of Kazakhstan.
Dr. Musadik Malik said, “Through enhanced cooperation, Pakistan can not only meet its energy demand but can also serve as a gateway via Gwadar to the energy products of Kazakhstan and be a partner in the global energy trade.” He said that Pakistan is open to new energy corridors. Due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Pakistan has been forced to think to diversify its energy sector rather than rely on one.
Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin said “Kazakhstan has huge oil, gas, and coal reserves that provide a great opportunity to enhance energy partnership. He mentioned that Kazakhstan is close to signing the transit trade agreement with Pakistan as well.”
A joint working group on energy will work and ministers from energy sectors will meet in the future.
