Digitalization in Pakistan is advancing at a rapid rate. On an everyday basis, we are witnessing the rise of new digital technologies which are changing the game in nearly every sector. One such sector is education, where a leading ed-tech organization, Knowledge Platform, has launched Pakistan’s first educational device. This initiative was taken in collaboration with GSMA and CreditPer. The main purpose of this launch is to eliminate the digital divide in Pakistan.

The digital disparity is one of the major hurdles in the way of a progressive Pakistan. The digital divide is stubborn and it feeds on the lack of proper tech infrastructure in Pakistan. When the pandemic hit, entire systems were shifted towards the online work systems. This exposed one of the major digital gaps in our country. To fill the digital gaps, we need to eliminate the problems that are causing it in the first place. One of those problems is the lagging education sector that hasn’t adapted to the idea of digitalization. Many of our schools and curriculum are depending on old and orthodox systems. These systems lack many crucial elements which are necessary for modernization and henceforth, evolution. According to the stats, only 1 million out of 49 million school-going (grade 1-12) have access to dedicated educational smart devices. Therefore, digitalizing the education sector of Pakistan is of utmost importance and one of the necessary steps for realizing the vision of “Digital Pakistan.”

For a progressive and digitally advanced Pakistan, the leading ed-tech organization that goes by the name of Knowledge Platform has taken an evolutionary step that will change the education sector for good. Knowledge Platform maintains a library of content that includes videos, games, assessments, and mobile data. The ed-tech organization has launched an educational device in Pakistan through collaboration with GSMA and CreditPer. CreditPer itself is a leading digital lending platform that provides easy digital access to the under-served market.

A project that is the result of the collaboration of such entities will have far-reaching benefits for the future of the education sector in Pakistan.

This launch of the educational device will actively eliminate the digital divide in Pakistan and will provide a student with all the necessary resources. The Knowledge Platform will provide anyone with the device of their choice through easy installments which will be facilitated by CreditPer. Due to this collaboration, the device is easily available to people with low income on easy installments. It provides them with personalized learning programs, digital content, games, assessment, and data.
