Figures from the movie business showed that the latest and probably last Indiana Jones movie beat out the competition at the North American box office, but experts pointed out that the fan-favorite had a slow start. Indiana Jones 5 has Harrison Ford in its main lead role.
Harrison Ford played the archaeologist he made famous more than 40 years ago in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The movie made about $60 million, according to Exhibitor Relations.
With that, Indy knocked Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse off the top spot, but experts said it was a slow start for the fifth Indiana Jones movie.
“Audience ratings are good, while critics’ reviews are lukewarm,” said David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research.
Ross said that the Disney movie is thought to have cost a whopping $295 million to make before marketing, but he added that it was likely to make up ground overseas, where it started with $70 million in sales.

Elemental, a Pixar movie about immigrants that fell from second to third place, made $11.3 million.
No Hard Feelings, which was also made by Sony and starred Oscar winner, Jennifer Lawrence, was a return to the once-popular raunchy comedy genre.
Indiana Jones 5 made $7.5 million and came in fourth place. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, one of this summer’s many spin-offs and sequels, made $7 million and came in fifth place.
