The third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which ends on Saturday after a 10-day celebration at The Ritz-Carlton in Jeddah, has been attended by many famous people and Pakistani celebrities also shun the film fest.
Pakistani filmmaker Zarrar Kahn won Best Feature Film at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday for his movie “In Flames”. In a video message shared on Instagram, Kahn expressed his excitement about receiving the Golden Yusr award, which was the biggest prize of the night. “I just found out that we’ve won the main prize at the Red Sea Film Festival. I wish I was there,” Kahn said happily.
“I can’t believe it! I am so grateful to the jury, to the programmers, to everyone who watched and championed our film. This prize is life-changing for us, for Pakistani cinema, Pakistani independent filmmakers.” Kahn further went on to congratulate his cast. “There’s a village and an army that came through to make this film,” he concluded.
Several Hollywood celebrities including Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Sharon Stone, Michelle Williams, Freida Pinto, Joel Kinnaman, Paz Vega, Sofia Vergara, and Baz Luhrmann were spotted attending the event, adding to its glitz and glamour.
The coveted event also saw the presence of renowned actors from Pakistan such as Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan, and Ahad Raza Mir. Although Mahira and Ahad haven’t shared any details from the Red Sea Film Festival, pictures of the actors have been doing rounds on social media.
The stars of “Bin Roye” and “Yakeen Ka Safar” were seen posing for photos with Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield and Bollywood star Alia Bhatt. They were all dressed in dark attire, while the “Yakeen Ka Safar” star Hamayun Saeed wore a stylish navy outfit on the red carpet.
