COVID-19 has affected us in more ways than we can count. The isolation and the ever increasing pandemic kept us in our homes and disconnected with the world. However, Sports has a way of uniting people, from all walks of life. It could be any sports, and it wouldnβt even matter where the event would take place because every one around the world would be fully invested in it. One of those events was Olympics. And fortunately for all of us, this year we will be able to enjoy it to the fullest but one person will enjoy it more than any of us and he is Imran Khan.
It was announced a few days prior to the events by Fawad Chaudhary, a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan that our Prime Minister Imran Khan will be enjoying the Olympics in Beijing, and representing Pakistan. Along with him in the Pakistani Contingent were Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar.
Among the athletes parading at the ceremony was Pakistani skier Mohammad Karim from Gilgit-Baltistan. The 26-year-old is the only Pakistani athlete who will compete in the Alpine Skiing Slalom event on February 16. Prior to departure, the accompanying ministers termed the prime ministerβs visit to China of great significance.
Fawad said that PM Imran Khan’s China tour would further enhance the bilateral relations between Pakistan and China. “Pakistan-China relations are deeper than the oceans and higher than the Himalayas,” the minister said.
Fawad went on to say that the premier will call on his Chinese counterpart and Chinese president. He will also hold meetings with the Chinese investors and businessmen on the sidelines of the tour.
He further stated that the prime minister’s visit would follow the arrival of more Chinese businessmen in Pakistan to shift their industries here. And we agree with him because this seems like a chance to strengthen the ties between China and Pakistan, and show to the world what a Powerful Nation Pakistan really is.
