Pakistan’s cricketer Shadab Khan has been appointed as an honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Punjab Police. The announcement was made through an official statement on social media, where Dr Usman Anwar, the province’s top cop, conferred this prestigious title upon Khan, recognizing his contribution to cricket and society.

As part of this collaboration, Shadab has also been appointed as the brand ambassador for the Punjab Police, signifying a partnership aimed at fostering positive engagement between the sports community and law enforcement. The announcement highlighted that Shadab was briefed on the workings of various police departments, showcasing the commitment to mutual understanding and collaboration.

Shadab Khan expressed his enthusiasm about this novel endeavor, saying, “It is an honor for me to be appointed as a brand ambassador by Punjab IG. I am very happy to be a part of Punjab Police.”

While Shadab is currently resting due to an ankle injury, his active involvement with the Punjab Police during this period reinforces the spirit of resilience and adaptability. Chief Selector Wahab Riaz acknowledged his significance, stating, “Shadab Khan is a very important member of Pakistan T20 cricket.”

This unique collaboration echoes the broader trend of cricketers engaging with law enforcement agencies, as seen with pacers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who were also honored with honorary police titles. Overall, this collaboration is a remarkable convergence of sports and service, where Shadab’s dedication to his community and positive influence on society as a sports figure are being recognized and appreciated by law enforcement agencies.
