Ali Zafar, Iffat Omar Twitter spat escalates

The ongoing defamation case filed by Zafar against Meesha Shafi has been a major source of controversy in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Ali Zafar, a Pakistani singer and actor, and TV host Iffat Omar have started a Twitter feud over the latter’s defamation lawsuit against Meesha Shafi.

The conflict started as the court was still hearing Zafar’s defamation claim against fellow musician Meesha Shafi.

Following the most recent court hearing in the case, word spread quickly that Shafi had lied under cross-examination.

However, Iffat Omar quickly responded that the news regarding Meesha Shafi was fake.

Later, in a tweet, Zafar charged Omar with trying to stop media outlets from reporting on court cases and event organisers from hiring him.

Additionally, he asserted that Omar had been “found guilty” of attempting to damage his reputation in an FIA report. In response, Omar pressed Zafar to back up his claims in court.

The situation quickly escalated as Zafar threatened to reveal videos of Omar in court and accused her of bullying and harassing tactics.

Then Zafar accused Omar of hurting his family’s female members, including his father, a cancer survivor who allegedly shielded Omar from harassment at school.

Omar responded by asserting that Zafar’s father had called her to “get things fixed,” making a similar accusation.

Social media users have been discussing the public feud and giving their opinions on it. Some people have sided with Zafar, while others have endorsed Omar.

The ongoing defamation case filed by Zafar against Meesha Shafi has been a major source of controversy in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Due to the case, sexual harassment in the industry has received more attention, and several celebrities have come out in Shafi’s defence. The court has not yet decided on the case’s resolution.
