Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra, who recently started singing, received positive and negative feedback on Instagram after posting a video of her first live singing performance. Parineeti performed the Farida Khanum hit song Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo in the video.
“My nana’s favourite song,” the actress captioned the video she posted of herself performing the tune. She made use of the hashtags. The actor received conflicting feedback from online users after declaring that the song has sentimental meaning; some applauded her effort, while others criticised her vocal abilities.
One Instagram user used wordplay in the song’s title to write, “Aaj gaane ki zid a karo (Don’t insist on singing today),” in the comments. “Have you ever studied singing at all? Do you engage in riyaaz each morning? For heaven’s sake!” yelled a frustrated user of the picture-sharing software. Another said, “Nana maaf nahi karenge (Nana won’t forgive you).” Another said, “After seeing this, I am confident that I can also sing.”
One user used wordplay to write, “Lata MatGayaKar,” using Lata Mangeshkar’s name. Another user said, “Wow what a voice (don’t do this again)”. A different app user said, “Your voice is precious, please keep it to yourself only.” One Instagram user even joined in, saying, “Haters gonna hate, and I’m with the haters.”
Earlier in January, Parineeti made an announcement regarding her singing debut, expressing her excitement about starting a musical career in addition to her acting profession. The starlet had teased fans with glimpses of her vocal prowess before making her stage debut at the Mumbai Festival 2024. Despite the criticism she has received online, Parineeti is unwaveringly committed to her newfound musical endeavours, highlighting both the rewards and difficulties of embarking on this artistic journey.
