Eid al-Fitr is the much-awaited festival for Muslims all around the world as they bid farewell to the holy month of Ramzan. With the beginning of the second Ashra, the citizens are gearing up for starting the Eid al-Fitr shopping by visiting the main markets of the twin cities to celebrate the festivity in the fullest manner.
Every locality and shopping area is lit up after iftar with multiple stalls for mehndi, shoes, bangles, and other such accessories to be adorned on Eid. Several brands have displayed their best-designed Eid collections to attract buyers and undoubtedly, this is that festival of the year for which the women go wild with preparations.
It is not just the main day of Eid that is looked forward to but also the night of moon sighting also known as chand raat is immensely celebrated. With women and girls applying mehndi’s and buying bangles for themselves, several chand raat stalls and exhibitions are arranged for families to enjoy. From music to live BBQ and stalls that offer henna, the entire aura screams happiness. Since Muslims have not been able to rejoice this festival properly in the previous years due to Covid, everyone is excited this year. Covid restrictions have been lifted and Muslims are all set to celebrate with their loved ones.
Enough about how the Muslims prep for Eid, lets now talk about why we all really anticipate this day. EIDI, of course! The tradition of elders giving money as Eidi to the younger ones is still alive and we hope it never dies out. It is the only time of the year where you can earn by basically doing NOTHING. Happiness and contentment are spread through the air during this auspicious festival and we are eagerly waiting for it. Although bidding farewell to Ramzan is always saddening, Eid is a gift promised by Allah to Muslims and it is celebrated to its fullest.
