Wars have been an inevitable part of our past, present, and most likely future. No matter what the policies, type of government, or how big are you on the phenomenon of peace. Prevailing conflicts in different parts of the world like Syria, Palestine, the Sahel Region, etc. have exposed the vulnerabilities and hypocrisy of human rights advocates. Say no to war slogans have just lost their meaning and why is that so? Why has the acquisition of another’s homeland has become normal? We all know why but we are either not ready to accept it or are afraid of speaking our thoughts out loud. Even today, people are trying to cover up a war waged in one country while speaking against the war in another. Such remarks have been made regarding the Russian-Ukraine conflict.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict
On February 24th, 2022, another area of the world plunged into war when Russia started to invade Ukraine. This came as a shock to the whole world. Many countries boycotted Russia and many remained neutral. The whole world is trying to contain the escalation either through sanctions or by offering diplomatic solutions to the war.
Sanctions
A tactic used to discourage warring parties to continue the war. Recently, the western bloc has imposed various sanctions on Russia. Many multinational companies operating in Russia and vice versa are also incurring losses because of the sanctions and boycotts. Moreover, many companies are refusing to work with Russia’s state-owned and partially owned firms which is causing economic instability in Russia.
War Crimes
Recent media reports claim that Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine. While Russia denies any such claims and continues to carry on with the invasion. To track down the atrocities many international investigating teams have been working in Ukraine.
Refugees
Many people have fled Ukraine since 24th Feb. They are taking refuge in the countries as per BBC, Hungary 364,804, Poland has taken in 2,336,799 refugees, Belarus 10,902, Moldova 387,151, Romania 608,936, Russia 350,632, and Slovakia 281,172.

Recently, Japan also accommodated 20 Ukrainian refugees. “The government of Japan is committed to providing the maximum support to these 20 Ukrainians to help them live with a sense of peace in Japan.”
Withdrawal of forces
As per the recent developments, Russian forces have been reported to have pulled out its forces from the northern part of Ukraine. This withdrawal is seen as a sign of low-level clashes in the captured parts of Ukraine. “Many Russian units withdrawing from northern Ukraine are likely to require significant re-equipping and refurbishment before being available to redeploy for operations in eastern Ukraine.”
Humanitarian Aid
Many countries have come forward to help the people of Ukraine through humanitarian aid. Many countries like the US, EU, Pakistan, etc. are playing their role to facilitate the people of Ukraine amid the war.

Pakistan’s Stance
Pakistan is maintaining a neutral stance on the issue. Moreover, the country is trying to persuade the Islamic world and China to act as a mediator in the conflict. During the OIC conference Prime Minister Imran Khan said “May I suggest that OIC during its discussion with foreign ministers, we should think about how … how we can meditate, how we can bring about the ceasefire. “I want to discuss how, maybe OIC along with China, we can all step in and try to stop this conflict which is going to have, if it keeps going the way it is, it would have great consequences for the rest of the world.” Pakistan is doing all in its power to resolve the Ukraine issue through peaceful and diplomatic means.
