Rumours that singer Ali Sethi allegedly wed Salman Toor has upset Pakistani social media users.
For those who live there, the first prominent gay marriage featuring a celebrity from Pakistan is both historic and strange.
Many social media users claim that Salman Toor, the Pasoori singer’s longterm partner and a professional painter, has been married. However, neither the actor nor any formal statement have been made public.
The marriage’s specifics are unknown.
After photos of Ali Sethi and Salman Toor were shared along with the report of their alleged marriage, hundreds of Pakistanis attacked the Pasoori singer and his father Najam Sethi, a seasoned journalist and the former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
It is safe to assume that social media users are bemoaning and calling for a boycott of his songs, while others are defending him and stating they still adore him as a musician because he did it outside of Pakistan.
