International Airports In Pakistan To Use Solar Energy

The conversation will take place in phases. In the first phase, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi will switch to solar energy. Directions have also been given to the concerned authorities to prepare a detailed report of the project.

Pakistan's International Airports to use solar energy

The electricity price hikes must have hit the Pakistani airports, late but yes it did hit them. Where the commoners are doing everything to pay the electricity bills, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has found a better, cheaper, greener solution to the electricity needs of the Pakistani Airports. As Pakistan’s International Airports are going to use solar energy.

We know that the Airports have backups in times of load shedding. But this time K-electric has shocked us with the recent announcement. The authority has decided to increase the duration of load shedding but one thing that we don’t understand is how they are going to do that. They’ll first have to provide electricity only then it is possible to ‘increase’ the duration otherwise it seems illogical. Anyhow, the rift between Pakistanis and the k-electric is not something new. Some even claim that there is no load shedding in Pakistan we think they have not recovered from the combined effect of the heatwave and unlimited load-shedding.

Pakistan’s International Airports to use solar energy

Sun is a type of renewable energy source and is the one that we have in abundance. In summers, the sun seems to be in full swing. If we are already using it to get vitamin D, sun-kissed selfies, face tan, unlimited sweat, and whatnot, why not use it for something useful like solar energy. Many houses, companies, institutions, etc. have installed solar panels. Solar panels convert the sun’s energy into electric energy. This not only saves energy but is cheap and more reliable. Moreover, you’ll have to pay less electricity bills.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has also decided to switch the Karachi airports to solar energy in phases. Khaqan Murtaza, DG Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said this initiative will save millions of rupees. He added, “CAA is working on a plan to switch Karachi airport to solar energy.”

The conversation will take place in phases. In the first phase, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi will switch to solar energy. Directions have also been given to the concerned authorities to prepare a detailed report of the project.

Solar energy is an eco-friendly option for the country’s green initiatives and projects. Moreover, with increasing load-shedding and electricity price hikes, solar energy appears as a ray of hope and the only feasible option.
